Bella
|
Bella the Dog has been a part of our family for 10 years. She is a native Virginian and was rescued from a no kill shelter. Bella is 11 years old with the heart and energy of a dog years younger. We have two young children and she plays with them and their friends. Bella is a mix of Wheaten Terrier and Rottweiler. She looks and sounds (when someone comes to the door) like she can do some damage. She is strictly an inside dog. Her stomach is on a schedule – when 5 pm rolls around she is ready to eat. Because of her age she eats Science Diet, Lamb and Rice for Seniors. She only eats one cup of dry food a day.
Bella is up to date on shots, is spayed, and is heartworm negative. She has no major medical issues and is quite healthy. She weighs 48 to 53 pounds and has a nice figure.
She will watch television with you, especially America’s Funniest Videos. If there are animals on the screen she gets animated.
Bella has hung out with other dogs in other peoples home as well as our own and has had no issues.
If you are willing to foster her until she finds a forever home, we are willing to pay for her food and such. We truly love our dog and willing do what we need in order for her not to go to the pound.
We are a military family moving to an area that requires a long flight and a long quarantine. If it were not for this she would still be with us. We move August 1st.

Duke
|
Duke is a Lab Mix about 9 yrs old. He is a really sweet dog as well and loves being with his buddy Lily. Lily is a Collie Mix about 9 yrs old and is such a sweetheart. She loves attention and is great with kids. She's been apart of my life for about 6 years now after I rescued her from being euthanized at my previous job. She has been a great dog for our family and we really hate to see her go. I would love to see the 2 stay together but I know this will be difficult. If you can help us place them in a loving home we would be so grateful. I look forward to hearing back from you soon. You may contact us at mikeamyhim@yahoo.com or call (540) 325-2982.

Emma
|
Emma is a three year old Pit Bull Terrier Mix. She would love nothing more than to cuddle up with her human in a warm home on a soft bed for long nap. She loves to go on walks and take car rides. She is happy to lean against you for a long body rub while you watch TV, read a book, etc. Emma is a "cuddle bug" but will let you know when she does not want to be loved on. She has been dubbed an "amazing house guest" and will lay quietly by a fire, open sunny window or heat vent for most of the day if given a choice. Emma has a "silly" streak which often has her hopping like a bunny into the room, full body wiggles, and squeaking along to your favorite song. She comes with a life time Barkbusters training contract. Emma would do best as an only dog and is not good with cats. She needs a home with older children. Gina
|
Gina is a GSD mix, a petite dog about 40 lbs. She’s maybe 3 ½ years old and was owner surrendered with 3 sick pit mix puppies. She is shy at first but when she relaxes, she is very affectionate. We have been taking her to public events like Concerts by the River, etc. and she’s good on a leash and excellent with kids and other dogs. People comment about how pretty she is. She is a very nice dog, enjoys walks but not overly exuberant like a puppy. Great for someone who loves the intelligence and loyalty of a shepherd but can’t handle bigger ones.

Hank
|
This boy is "Hank" a Rottie Shepherd mix. He is frightened of everything. The shelter said he just wandered in one day! (Yes, he took himself to the shelter!) He loves the shelter staff, but hid from me. He finally let me pet him and touch him all over. Maybe someone out there knows someone that could help this shy boy. He is five to six years old? Please let me know if you have any questions. sandal@frontiernet.net or 304-496-7626.

Justice
|
Hi, I'm Justice. You can see from my picture that I'm one good looking, young, stud. My foster mom said that I'm "fixed". I'm not sure what that means but regardless, I'm still "the man"! I'm only about a year old and I weigh about 75 lbs. You can see that I try to keep in good shape and am nice and slim. The girls love that! Everyone says that I'm really handsome and very unique looking. I'm all white, except for a big brown spot on my back, some on my ears and a big patch over my left eye. My foster mom says she loves my pink nose and big paws. What can I say? When you got it, you got it! Anyway, I'm also a bit goofy and I have A LOT of energy. I have been known to fly. Well actually it is like a big leap in the air and I'm able to run really fast and then jump on the furniture. It kind of looks like I'm flying. Because I have not spent much time in a home, I need some help on my manners. We are working on that now and the dogs that I live with now are helping me to learn. But I'm totally potty and crate trained and I walk well on a leash. So, basically I'm perfect except that you'll have to be firm with me for a few months until I really catch on to how to live in a home instead of the shelter. Please send us an email, if you would like to meet me. It will be worth your while. Sincerely, Justice For more information, email: Info@aforeverhome.org

Kota
|
Hi, This is Kota, she's 3 to 3 1/2 years old. Kota first came to us July 2008. We were just supposed to
watch her for a week but her owner took off and moved out of state. We don't know much about her
past. We believe she might have been abused as a puppy, when you raise your hand she jumps back
or will growl. She doesn't like cats and it's a little different with her & other dogs. She got along great
with my Pit Bull (male) I had but Kota & our 9yr old German Shepard/Lab mix (female) don't get along
at all. She is a very playful and extremely strong. She's mainly been an outside dog because of her & our
other dog fighting. We feel guilty that Kota isn't able to come inside due to their fighting. We would love
for her to go to a great home where they have time to be with her.
Thanks,
Lynda

Lenny
|
Last fall Lenny found me while I was out walking my dog, Lily. He is fixed and had a collar on so I was hoping that I would be able to find his family. Unfortunately, after filing found reports, posting found dog flyers, and having him scanned for a microchip, I was unable to locate them. He was temporarily adopted but returned because his new mom felt that she couldn’t give him enough attention. I am relocating to Nashville and am unable to foster him any longer.
Lenny is white with brown patches. He looks like a shepherd but with a really adorable droopy face. He is about 85 lbs and the vet’s best guess is that he is between 3 and 4 years old. Lenny is great with other dogs and is curious about cats, but for the most part leaves them alone. I haven’t seen him around children much, but I feel that he would do better in a home without kids. As with a lot of shepherds, Lenny is protective of his food. He did bite my hand in April when I attempted to touch him while he was at his food bowl. Lenny is a snuggle bear. He loves to be around the people he loves. He will lean on you if he is sitting next to you. He loves a good scratch. He has allergies that manifest as itchy skin so if he is without his allergy medication, his skin turns pink and he tends to chew on things so he doesn’t chew on himself. He does like to run (one has to wonder if this is how he ended up with me) so an extra eye needs to be kept on him while the door is open. I am praying that someone sees in Lenny what I do and finds it in their heart to make him a permanent part of their family. To reach his foster e-mail jbalonge@hotmail.com Posted 8-30-09.

Max
|
This handsome guy is looking for someone who has plenty of love to give and the energy to match his playful personality. Don’t let the age fool ya…Max thinks he’s still a pup! Max had been in the care of his previous owners since he was a puppy, but due to their health issues they could no longer provide for him. He gets along great with all types of dogs and thinks playtime with his canine buddies should last all day. He loves human companionship and is a fast learner, but also has an independent quality to his personality, and for that reason would do better in a home with experienced dog owners. He gets nervous and anxious in new situations, and needs someone who is willing to put some time into building up trust with him at first. Once you gain his trust and respect you have a friend for life as Max becomes very attached to his family. He is not destructive, has good house manners and leash manners, and is a fabulous running and biking buddy.
We think Max could be mixed with either Husky or Jindo - but that is just a guess. Max would thrive with an active family who can provide structure and put some time into fine-tuning his obedience. If you are a dog-savvy family looking for a rewarding and loving dog -contact us about Max!

Rainy and Justice
|
The first one is of both of them, Justice (spade female) in foreground and Rainy (neutered male) in back. Second is Rainy. Third is Justice and forth is Rainy. I think that Rainy is 12 and Justice is 10 years old. I know that both of them were rescues. Rainy is very loving when he gets to know you, has arthritis in one of his back legs. We have been giving him Chondroitin which seems to help him but he can be somewhat stiff when he gets up. Justice is a little skittish but will warm up to you once she trusts you. She is on Thyroid and seizure medicine which she has been responding to quite well to. Both must stay together since they are best buddies and have been a loving home for most of their lives. Currently they have total access to the outdoors via a doggy door to a fenced in area. Do walk on leash. Make good guard dogs and pets for people that like large dogs. On a diet of homemade dog food mixed with Kibbles & Bits. The homemade dog food consists of cooked chicken and green beans chopped in a food processor or blender then mixed into the dry food. Their diet is supplemented with dog biscuits and treats. Rainy has a thing with vacuum clearers. When you say the word or start to use it he barks at it as if he is protecting you from it. When I vacuum the house, I ignore him or just put him outside.
She has two indoor cats if anyone is interested. Male and female, I believe, Becky and Bailey. Here are pictures of Bailey and Becky. They are indoor and outdoor cats. They are probably over 8 years old. Both have been neutered and spaded. They currently live with two big dogs. Both must stay together. Please contact Cheri at 443 277-6564
